ABOUT TARA
Tanzania association of radiographers (TARA) is a non-profit professional association which represents radiographers in all radiographic categories such as Diagnostic Radiography (General), Nuclear Medicine, Radiotherapy and Ultrasound
It is a voluntary based membership society that is open to all qualified Radiographers, Sonographers’ and radiotherapists’ professionals from the registered Medical Radiology and Imaging Professional Council (MRIPC) and students from the mentioned disciplines.
TARA is a member of the International Society of Radiographers and Radiological Technologists (ISRRT), Pan African Congress of Radiology and Imaging (PACORI) and African Forum of Radiographers (AFR) thus mandated to represent and unite professionals in the country with others all around the world
MISSION
TARA strives to maintain and improve services in line with its constitution, while adapting to healthcare trends nationally and internationally.
VISION
To gain global recognition as Tanzania’s premier radiographer association, enhancing credibility and respect within professional and public realms.
OBJECTIVES
- Provide a professional organization for Radiographers, Radiotherapists, Sonographers, Nuclear Medicine Technologists, and Radiographic assistants in Tanzania.
- Assist in advising and or establishing trainings, promote growth of individual radiographers and profession at large.
- Represent radiography interests for the national and public interests.
- Act as a representative body on behalf of members when dealing with any other organization and foster links with sister groups with same nature around the globe.
- Stimulate and encourage mutual cooperation amongst professional organisations in Tanzania so that high ethical standards established and maintained.
- Support an educational policy for the training of all cadre members and to oppose all attempts to lower the standard of education therein.
- Provide general knowledge regarding radiography, Sonography and radiotherapy; and other supporting cadres through discussions, seminars, lectures, exhibitions and publications.
- Advice any members in difficulties in matters connected with the profession and offer such assistance as is permissible under the by-laws of the Association.
- Act as a bridge between professional and registrar for Medical Radiology and Imaging Professional Council for all Radiographers residing in Tanzania
- Â Perform all such other helpful things as shall be incidental or conducive to the societies
